오랜만에 본 Nancy Meyers 작품이었다.
GRE 때문에 머리가 깨질 것 같던 가운데 태완, 혜영, 은혜가 불러내서 보게 된 영화..
보고 싶었는데 크리스마스도 지나고 해서 나중에나 볼까 했는데 잘 됐다.

Love Actually 계열의 영화라고들 하지만, 구성 면에 있어서는 서로 interrelated 된 것이 조금 달랐다. 물론 Love Actually에서도 서로 연관있는 couples이 나오지만..

L.A와 London을 배경으로 서로 House exchange라는 신기한 거래를 한 서로 다른 두 여자와 그들이 만나는 사람들 사이와의 이야기.. 어찌보면 현실에서 과연 있을 수 있을까 싶은 내용이지만.. (원래 영화가 다 그렇듯이..) 잔잔한 감동을 주는 영화인 것만은 사실이다.

특히, Arthur Abbott가 연단의 계단을 힘차게 올라가는 부분의 감동은 뭐랄까.. 감독은 그부분을 희화화시키기는 했지만, 굉장히 많은 의미를 담고 있는 것 같았다. Arthur 입에서 나오는 현대 문화/영화에 대한 냉철한 비판들.. 그러나 한편으로 자신의 나약한 모습에 대한 부끄러움.. 겉으로는 강하나 속으로는 나약하기만 한 현대인의 모습이 담겨있는 것 같다..

그러나 뭐니뭐니해도 이 영화의 주제는 Love이다. 사랑은 자기와의 싸움이 먼저라는 것을 감독은 말해주고 싶나보다. 울지 못할 정도로 감정이 메마른 Amanda, W-I-D-O-W이고 package를 가지고 있는 Graham, 마음이 여려서 떠난 사랑을 놓지 못하는 Iris와 Miles.. 사랑이 자기를 이길 수 있게 해주는 동시에, 자기를 이겨야 사랑할 수 있다는...

간만에 훈훈하면서 재미있는 영화 봤다..
Jude Law의 느끼함과 Cameron Diaz의 귀여움이 잘 어울린 영화다.. ㅎㅎ
한가지 아쉬운 것은 Jack Black 만의 느낌이 잘 안살아서 좀 아쉬웠다는거..
그리고.. Kate Winslet이 Cameron DIaz에 비해 너무 뚱뚱(?)했다는 거..
Cameron Diaz는 뭘 걸쳐도 예술이었다.. 훗..
